Me again, with my second post this evening. I have a couple of crafty friends - they know who they are!! We have little chats and share our queries, blocks and generally give each other support and encouragement, with quite a bit of silliness thrown in. Last week we decided to give each other a challenge and mine was to do a project that only used Brown and Green, other than that it didn't matter. So here it is
I started with a canvas board, a spray of artificial flowers, some Finnabair Modelling Paste, Micro Beads, various stencils and masks Sprays from Lindys Stamp Gang and Prima ColorBurst, Prima Mechanicals and embellishments from Tim Holtz and The Artistic Stamper.
I stuck the flower to canvas using the modelling paste as the stem was plastic and this seemed to hold it nicely in place. I also used the modelling paste through the stencils.
I added some embellishments and some torn bits of music paper, and started spraying using my two Lindys Stamp Gang sprays in Glory of the Seas Gold and Bayou Boogie Gold. They compliment each quite nicely despite both having gold in the titles Seas gold is more of a sand colour whereas the Bayou boogie is a lovely rich brown.
Thanks for popping over and as always do let me know your thoughts.
Hope you all had a good weekend, we certainly did, down here in sunny Herne Bay. As we had our very own Air Show which was fabulous. Anyway I digress I have a low blood count at the moment which is making me rather tired and I have been instructed to take plenty of rest! More time in the craft room then I thought yippee!! Surprisingly despite being tired the old creative juices certainly seemed to have been flowing and this will be the first of two posts today!!
Well over a year ago possible even nearer two I purchased a Prima Mixed Media Journal Cover complete with its lovely inserts and pages. At the time i had every intention of doing something with it but just couldn't quite bring myself to do it. Those pristine pages and the canvas resist covers were just too lovely to do anything with - well thats what I thought at the time!! How wrong could I be.
I got everything out including my small stash of Prima Mechanicals, some added embellishments - namely watch parts that I had picked up from The Artistic Stamper and my Dylusions sprays!
I laid it all out how I thought I should have it.
You may have noticed that the bit in the top left hand corner looks a bit like a die well it was, but don't worry i did cut one out of grunge paper before I stuck it all down.
I also used some of the off cuts from the die to add some extra length down the bottom and painted it all with Fresco Finish Snowflake, I would normally have used gesso but was trying something out ;)
The mask was something i had made and didn't use on a previous project and I have been moving it around my desk for ages!! The spiral is from the packet of watch parts I mentioned earlier.
Out came the Dylusions sprays I used Cherry Pie, Polished Jade, Lemon Zest, Squeezed Orange and Bubblegum Pink, and Melted Chocolate.
I have found that once Dylusions hits Gesso and also white paint it tends to fade and become very pale, due to the transperancy of the sprays. This can sometimes look lovely but I really wanted the embellishments to pop. I also decided the top left hand corner looked a bit lonely! So out came some more embellishments and i still had some bits left over from the die cut. I also added H2o's in various colours to all of the embellishments
Added some Walnut Stain Distress Ink around the outside and then sprayed the back with the same colours.
As always do let me know your thoughts, your comments are always appreciated
Hope you are all having a good week. A couple of months ago I started a journal page using the new Finnabair Trust the Magic Stamps I had just received. I had just collected the Twisted Citron (keep calling it Twisted Sister but that's just showing my age and taste in music lol) Distress paint and decided to have a play with it alongside the Mermaid lagoon! It was lovely!! I used a brayer to add the paint to the pages. I really love the way the colours blend into each other!
I stamped the main image and the word stamps from the set onto tissue paper and stuck them on the page. Popped some white paint, (sorry can't remember now if it was picket fence or Fresco finish snowflake) onto my craft mat and then onto a stamp and randomly stamped a couple of the doily stamp across the page. I added some Prima Art basics graphite texture paste through the brick crafters workshop stencil. Added some green seed beads and a flower made from tissue and the heart stamp again from the set and left it at that. I knew it needed something just couldn't quite put my finger on it.
This morning it came to me I knew what it needed! Out came the Grunge Paste - goodness I do love that thick gooey loveliness! Popped some through a doily crafter workshop stencil randomly around the page. Added some more brickwork lol!! Added a painted and red embossed heart to the main image and then once dry added twisted citron and mermaid lagoon paints over the top of the grunge paste. Now I can happily say it's finished..
As always do let me know your thoughts. Have a very crafty week
